Livro was released in Brazil in 1997 and internationally the following year, produced by Caetano Veloso and Jaques Morelenbaum. Across its 14 tracks, Veloso moves between percussion-heavy Brazilian rhythms, orchestral arrangements, acoustic writing and more experimental studio textures, with songs including Os Passistas, Livros, Onde o Rio É Mais Baiano, Manhatã and Um Tom. The album later won the Grammy Award for Best World Music Album, as well as the Latin Grammy for Best MPB Album.
